Come see A RAISIN IN THE SUN by Lorraine Hansberry with the entirely Deaf cast at Silver Spring Black Theater from April 1st thru 12th, 2020. This play reflects a story about the African-American family, the Youngers, who has an American Dream to live a better life. They struggle to make do while living in the South Side of Chicago. When the family receives an insurance check from the deceased father, Big Walter, they have to make an important decision about what to do with it, which has caused tension among them.
This play is uniquely performed by the Deaf African-American cast, which reveals the perspective of Black Deaf culture and the use of American Sign Language during the 1950s.
